We want your experience at Deep Creek Modern to be effortless, memorable, and respectful of both the property and our mountain community. A few simple guidelines ensure everyone enjoys this special place to its fullest.

The Essentials

Smoking

This is a smoke-free property. Please enjoy tobacco products in designated outdoor areas only.

Wildlife Awareness

You’re in black bear country—one of the most thrilling aspects of mountain living. Garrett, Allegany, Washington, and Frederick Counties are home to wild black bears, and sightings while hiking, camping, or relaxing outdoors are possible. Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources actively manages human-bear interactions to keep both species safe. Familiarize yourself with best practices at the Living with Black Bears webpage or BearWise.org.

Firearms & Hunting

No firearms, bows, crossbows, or hunting of any kind are permitted on the property.

Pets

We love animals, but Deep Creek Modern is not pet-friendly. Thank you for understanding.

Being a Great Neighbor

Quiet Hours: The mountains carry sound beautifully—which means so do voices and music. Please observe quiet hours:

  • Sunday–Thursday: 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM

  • Friday–Saturday: 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Events & Gatherings

Planning something special? Parties and events require advance approval from the rental company. Unauthorized events may result in fines and immediate reservation cancellation.

Property Care

Leave No Trace

Treat this home as you would your own. Report any damage or maintenance issues promptly so we can address them quickly.

Kitchen

Please empty all refrigerators and freezers before departure.

Pellet Stove

The living room pellet stove is for owner use only—please do not operate unless you’ve received explicit permission.

Appliances & Electronics

Follow provided instructions for safe operation. When in doubt, ask—we’re here to help.

First Aid Kit & Fire Extinguisher

Located in the pantry closet off the kitchen. Familiarize yourself with their location upon arrival.
