For the Winter: Please note that the Deep Creek area is true mountain country, and winters here bring real snow — sometimes significant accumulation. Not all roads (our driveway is when they get to it) are plowed and the area does not use salt, so high snow and icy patches can develop (even after plowing). We strongly recommend traveling with tire chains or snow tires if you're visiting between November and March, and ask that you drive carefully and at reduced speeds, especially on hills and curves. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is highly recommended for winter stays. If conditions are especially severe, please allow extra time for travel and check road conditions before heading up. Make sure to check the weather before you arrive and plan accordingly.
